Discover Your Naked Self at Florida’s Cypress Cove

On our nude journey over the past 25 years, my wife and I have enjoyed many naked vacations (or nakations) to a variety of clothing optional and nudist locations large and small. We’ve dropped our bathing suits and our inhibitions at many exciting, tropical destinations in Bora Bora, Jamaica, St. Martin, Miami, San Diego, and Mexico to name a few. We’ve experienced the relaxation and joy that can only be experienced nude with someone you love in a safe and friendly place. It’s amazing how social nudity can be such a wonderful way to meet new friends and connect with your spouse in ways you never imagined in a clothed, covered-up world.

We would gladly go back to any of these locations for another trip, but it was our first trip to Cypress Cove in Florida that reminded me of a simple truth of nude recreation: “Anything you can do clothed, you can do naked and it will always be more fun, more enjoyable and more memorable.” It was at Cypress Cove that we re-discovered our naked selves and why personal nudity is such a simple and lasting reward.

Reading by the pool and soaking up the sunshine is a perfect activity at Cypress Cove but the resort offers so much more to do.

Cypress Cove is a 300-acre property that includes a large lake, recreational facilities and a small residential community. Cypress Cove positions itself as a resort featuring 84-hotel villa rooms, full RV and primitive campgrounds, tennis courts, two restaurants, bar, gym and even an onsite beautician/salon. You can even go golfing, play tennis, canoeing and fishing. And just like most resorts yes, you can lay out and bake in the sun beside one of their two large pools or soak in their hot tubs. You can sip your frozen colada or beer while floating naked in the pool.

All are great features if you are considering a nude vacation but there is another reason I would recommend Cypress Cove for any interested couples looking for their first social nude experience in a safe and welcoming environment. At Cypress Cove you’ll see and experience what life is like truly living naked. Let me explain.

Enjoy walking on the residential streets at Cypress Cove wearing nothing more than your shoes and a smile.

Friends of our invited us to spend the weekend with them at Cypress Cove. They had been there several times before and loved it but not for the reasons why they loved Couples San Souci or an all inclusive nudist resort. We learned exactly what they meant late in the afternoon on our first day when we retreated from the pool and went back to our hotel room to exchange our towels and books for a stroll. We walked literally down main street by well-kept homes of all sizes and styles wearing only our shoes. We saw residents out jogging, riding bicycles, walking dogs, gardening, painting and other everyday activities wearing nothing more than a smile. And yes, everyone was very friendly and social. We walked naked for miles safely up and down the streets of Cypress Cove surrounded by others enjoying the nudist lifestyle.

It’s hard to explain but to me, this is why more couples need to experience social nudity. It’s not about getting over the fear of taking your clothing off. It’s about how you feel when your naked and exposed: relaxed and happy.

To the uninitiated, this may sound absolutely anxiety producing. Being naked on a beach or by the pool is one thing, but parading through the streets wearing nothing with no privacy can feel like a big leap but in all honesty, it’s here that we were reminded that anything you can do clothed, you can do naked and it will always be more fun, more enjoyable and more memorable. We took a long walk through Cypress Cove nude every morning and afternoon for the next four days and that is only one of many memories that stand out from our trip. We lived nude and loved it.

Our blog is about encouraging couples to try social nudity. For my wife and me, we’ve found it to be a wonderful bonding point. A shared experience that is better because we are naked together. We have discovered how wonderful it is to spend time together outside naked. I’m not talking about sexual intimacy. We are not touching each other. That’s not appropriate outside of the privacy of your bedroom. We are just spending time and hanging out with other naked couples who like to do the same thing.

Which is why I would willingly encourage any couple interested in seeing what nude recreation is all about to go to Cypress Cove to find out for themselves. It’s a large property with a lot to offer. Here’s what to expect:

When you pass by the front gate, you’ll leave the clothed world and immediately be transported into a place where you wear what’s comfortable based on the weather. And yes, you’ll see a lot of tan bottoms, boobs and bodies immediately. You’re not in Kansas anymore Dorothy and that’s okay because you’re in safe place. Nudist understand that when you’re naked, you’re vulnerable which is why there are strict rules such as no photography without consent, no suggestive attire and absolutely no public intimacy or sexual touching. There is a time and place and that’s in the privacy of your own bedroom.

Cypress Cove is a family nudist property and protecting children is of the utmost importance. Once you arrive at the front office, you will be required to check in and to share your personal identification for a background check. A clothed, staff member will welcome you and go over the rules, map and activities, just like any resort, except everyone coming in and out of the office will be naked or wearing almost nothing. If it’s your first time, it will be shocking and does take some getting used to but one thing you’ll quickly discover about nudist, they’re not embarrassed so why should you be? Just remember to keep eye contact and not to stare just as you would in any clothed, social situation. It’s funny, the only time I’m uncomfortable at a nudist property is when I’m naked and the people around me are wearing clothing.

From here, you’ll take a tour of the property and see the lake and the boats. You’ll see the tennis courts and the golf course. You’ll see the pools and restaurants. And you’ll probably be taken to your room where your nude experience will officially begin. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean. Many were recently updated and include fridge, microwave and a full bathroom and sitting area.

It’s in the privacy of your own room that you’ll take off your clothing and first ask yourself if you’re ready for this. You are. My wife recommends for women to bring a wrap that you can wear till you’re comfortable walking around Cypress Cove naked. You will always have a towel with you for sitting and it doubles nicely as a wrap if needed. Definitely wear lots of suntan lotion (put it on in the room while you’re thinking about it especially if you’ve never done this before) and I recommend a comfortable hat. Then take your spouse’s hand, a good book and open the door and feel the sunshine and warm Florida breeze on your naked body. More importantly, note that no one screamed. The sky did not fall. The world didn’t stop moving.

Now comfortably walk to the pool and get naked. Don’t wait. You’ll see very quickly that any fear or anxiety goes away almost as quickly as you shed your wrap. It’s replaced by this wonderful feeling of freedom and relaxation. Enjoy it. Just like a first kiss, it will only happen once but you’ll find it to be intoxicating, which is why we believe you’ll want to do it again and again. Don’t take my word for it. A German TV station did a story about nude travel and Cypress Cove. Even if you don’t speak German, you’ll see what Cypress Cove is really all about.

From there go experience Cypress Cove. Enjoy the lake in a canoe or paddleboat. Enjoy the sunrise over the lake and walk in the sand. Head over to the tennis courts or learn how to play pickleball. What about volleyball or golf? It’s all here. Head to lunch or dinner where no shirt, no shoes is no problem because most people won’t be wearing anything except a towel to sit on.

Find a comfortable spot by the pool and start socializing or pick your own little quiet spot of heaven by the lake or away from everyone else. This is your time so spend it the way you want to do it. Just enjoy the time together. You’ll quickly realize how you look naked really doesn’t matter because everyone around you is perfectly average. We all have something we would change but when it’s all on display, nothing really stands out.

If you’re still anxious, liquid courage helps too. You can buy both soft drinks and alcoholic beverages at the main office or at one of the onproperty restaurants. It should be noted that while I was expecting prices to be high since the audience is captive, food and drinks were very reasonably priced at Cypress Cove.

One other important reason why Cypress Cove is an excellent place to experience social nudity for the first time. Other than the pools and hot tubs, the property is clothing optional. We saw a few couples who were here for the first time and it was obvious they were getting used to it. They found spots not in crowded areas by the pool but by the lake or in the green space between the two pools. One couple stands out in my mind. Throughout the day, the look of surprise on their faces slowly changed to smiles. They went from him laying naked on his stomach and her removing only her bikini top while covering up with a magazine to both of them walking from their chairs to the bar and then to the pool with nothing on and loving every minute of it.

On a cooler morning, a warmer top maybe necessary but that doesn’t mean you have to cover up entirely.

Cypress Cove has a wonderful bonus for first timers: a half price coupon for your first visit. From our experience, the property is very reasonably priced and only 40 minutes from Orlando and 30 minutes from Disney. It’s conveniently located.

Everything I’ve just shared will probably be the anxiety producing at first and yes there will be moments. You’ll have questions too like what do you wear to a clothing optional restaurant? (Most women wear sundresses while mean wear short sleeve button down shirts and nothing else).

Sound like the place for you to try nude recreation with your spouse? What I didn’t talk about though will be truly memorable for you both. It is the first time you walk with your spouse from your room to the lake or pool wearing nothing but a smile. Or go to the lake and go fishing or boating nude. Or talk with another nude couple while playing tennis or at the bar. You will feel free. You will feel comfortable and relaxed and it is wonderful.

Do what is comfortable for you and do it together so you’ll both share in the moment. Our one suggestion though is at some point during your visit walking the entire property, hand-in-hand because you simply can’t walk naked down the middle of a road through a community just anywhere. Cypress Cove isn’t just anywhere. It’s special.

One other important suggestion for the first time, newbie nude couples visiting Cypress Cove. We took an Uber from the airport to Cypress Cove in Kissimmee. It takes about 45 minutes. At this point, going to a nudist property is no big deal for us but to someone (like our Uber driver) who had never done it before, it can be an ordeal. Our driver, who did not speak much English, asked us three times is we were absolutely sure we knew where we were going and was this the correct place. He might have been of Latin origins but he turned every shade of red when we he drove us by numerous naked men and women from the front gate to the office. He was friendly and professional throughout but we could tell he was beyond embarrassed. We told this story to several other couples who told us stories of their taxi and Uber/Lyft drivers dropping them off at the front gate, unwilling to drive any further.

Our suggestion, spare yourself any embarrassment for you or your driver and call Martin at Martin Transportation. Martin is a Brit who has called Florida home for more than 10 years. For $50, he’ll pick you up at Orlando International Airport and drop you off at Cypress Cove 45-60 minute later. He’ll also take you back to the airport for $45. An Uber is only a little less but the real reason to call Martin is because he lives at Cypress Cove and has enjoyed the nudist lifestyle for many years. For first timers he can tell you all about the wonderful trip you’re about to enjoy at Cypress Cove. Call Martin at 407-353-5346. There are other options including another driver who lives on the property. We met Martin and liked him a lot but do call Cypress Cove and ask for other options too if you’re interested.

Let us know if you have any questions or if you’ve been to Cypress Cove what you’d recommend first time couples try for themselves. We really enjoyed it. Any first timers care to share their experience? We just discovered Cypress Cove but we’ll be back.

  1. This is an excellent article, written by someone who really “gets it” about the wonderful nudist life inside Cypress Cove. There is no place else like Cypress Cove, and those lucky ones among us who can live life here nude for years and decades really can’t imagine ever living anywhere else. Thanks to the author and his mate for their great write-up on this wonderful place we love so much and are proud to call our home.

    1. Thanks for the nice note. Glad you enjoy it. We try. I saw your blog too. Nice work. You’re where we were 15+ years ago. Keep up the great blog posts and let us know if you have any questions.
