We’re headed on vacation in a week. Just a quick getaway for my wife and me. We’re headed to Cypress Cove in Kissimmee for the first time. I’ve heard good things and considering that we live in the Midwest U.S. and haven’t felt 75+ degrees since October, understandably, we can’t wait to go.
Yes, I’ll be writing a blog post about our experiences and why (or why not) Cypress Cove would be a great destination for the first time or new naturist/nudist couple. Today though I woke up extra excited for our trip. It’s still a few days away but for me, the trip has already begun in my head.
While most of our friends don’t know too much about the naked vacations my wife and I go on throughout the year, the few that do always hit on the same topics. “Isn’t it really sexual?” Nope, not at all. I know it sounds impossible, but it is actually not a sexually charged environment at all. It feels more freeing and open. No one is judging one another. It’s all about body acceptance and enjoying the day in your own skin. I’ll explain more later.
“Isn’t it embarrassing walking around naked with your privates hanging out?” It’s actually pretty comfortable and when you’re naked and everyone around you is naked too, you really don’t notice. I’ll admit, at first it was unnerving walking around without clothing but that lasted all of about 15 minutes. And surprisingly, when you’re around other naked people, you really don’t notice it after awhile. Your skin is your “clothing.”
“What do you do all day when you’re naked?” Well, it’s really what won’t you do… which brings me to the purpose of this post. I can’t wait to get to Cypress Cove. I’m excited to see their property because they offer so much to do. Yes my wife loves laying by the pool and tanning in the sun or skinny dipping in the pool. I do too. But for me, it’s all that plus everything else that you can only experience when you are at a safe, clothing optional/nude property and surrounded by other like-minded individuals. Let me explain because here’s where a naked vacation is unlike any other trip you’ve ever had.
We’ll land in Orlando and Uber to Cypress Cove. As soon as we walk past the check in/ guard post, we’ll know we are somewhere different than the outside world. I’m expecting tan bottoms and boobs everywhere. We’ll get the tour from the front desk and we’ll see all of the main points of interest like the lake or the pools, or the restaurant in Cypress Cove that we will experience over the next few days. We’ll see naked men and women of all ages, colors and sizes doing what they do mid-morning when the sun is out and the temperatures are high enough to be comfortably nude outside. It won’t be shocking. It won’t be embarrassing. It will be our normal for the next few days.
Finally, we’ll get to our room. We’ll open up our luggage but instead of unpacking, we’ll be undressing. We’ll be taking off the jeans, shirts, jackets, underwear and other clothing that define us when we’re at home and in our community. We’ll trade them for tanning lotion and sunblock, sunglasses, hat and sandals (and a towel to sit on). Last time we were on a nude vacation, my wife was undressed before I had even opened my suitcase.
And then we’ll hit the moment that I’ve been dreaming about. The thought that hit me when I woke up this morning. The moment when we open the door and walk down the steps from our room. The moment when we step outside our lodging and feel the sun on our faces and a breeze across our nude bodies. The moment we walk naked and freely across the property holding our towels and each ours hands as we walk to the pool.
A nude vacation is just that, leisure time meant to be enjoyed in the nude. And the feeling I get when I’m there is hard to explain but really is wonderful. Until you’ve experienced a nude vacation or nakation, you really don’t know this feeling, but when you do, you’ll know it for the rest of your life. It is addictive.
Notice I didn’t say anything about intimacy or sexual touching. This goes to the question we hear first, that our naked vacation time must be very sexual. It isn’t sexual but it is bonding and close. Public sexual intimacy or touching is not acceptable at a reputable nudist property like Cypress Cove and will not be tolerated. We wouldn’t come back if it was happening in the open either. It’s not why we go on naked vacations. There is a time and a place and that’s in the privacy of your own room.
So as the countdown to our nude vacation comes to a close, we invite you to discover your own nude vacation and experience the nude feeling firsthand. You’ll see what I mean. To find a nudist property for vacation or near your home, try the American Association of Nude Recreation (AANR) website.
Let us know what questions you have and look back for our trip report on Cypress Cove sometime in the next month.
So what’s the perfect way to relax and literally soak in Mother Nature and all of her beauty? There is no better place to take it all off and try nude recreation than a hot spring. It is the perfect low/no stress environment to see what getting naked in nature really feels like for you and your significant other.
I was visiting Santa Fe on business and had an extra day. Rather than stay in town, which is tempting because it’s a really great city to explore, I decided to see what hikes were recommended in the mountains. I quickly discovered that New Mexico is known for many amazing hot springs including several with fantastically scenic hikes to reach them and most of them clothing optional (you can be naked, topless or in your swimming suit… the choice is your’s).
The hot springs I read about really were all different. Some were very remote and hard to reach, while others were right off main roads and very crowded. Some had been purchased and turned into spas, while others were “trashed” by tourists and locals. Here is a list I found very helpful.
The one hot springs I kept reading about that appealed to me the most was the San Antonio Hot Springs. It features an amazingly scenic and beautiful five-mile hike by a creek up a canyon. The hike goes over a variety of landscapes but you’re climbing with every step up the canyon. The views are amazing.
I did the hike in early October and it was warm. I did it in late afternoon/early evening because I wanted to sit out and watch the stars fill the sky (bring a flashlight). The hike will take between 1.5-2.5 hours or however long it will take you to walk five miles up hill. Bring water. There is no water available on the hike. The hike alone was the highlight of my day, but that’s when I got to the hot springs.
The hike ends after passing an abandoned barn and cabin with four beautiful pools of water cascading down a hillside overlooking the creek and cliffs of the canyon. A hot spring fills the top pool and the water flows from one to the next. The top pool is 105 F and the temperature falls with each pool.
I was alone when I got to the springs. I took off my clothing and jumped into the top pool and enjoyed the soak while looking out at the cliffs, stream and the forest all around me. The water was crystal clear and actually a bit too warm for me. After 15 minutes, I had to take a seat on the rocks surrounding the pool to cool off. Sitting in the hot springs with stunning natural surrounding all around is an amazing feeling. The water is unbelievably comfortable and the four pools have sand bottoms so you can sit in them without the pain of a rock pinching your bottom.
I would call the San Antonio hot springs a little gem hidden in the New Mexico wilderness. You’ve really got to want to be there because it’s not an easy hike to it. From what I saw online, the springs can be very crowded. The area around the hot springs was a little beat up from the summer hiking season, but I found very little trash. The hot spring pools themselves were wonderfully maintained.
I stayed and soaked for nearly two hours, watching the sunset give way to the stars. It was an unbelievable night. My only complaints were that my wife wasn’t with me to enjoy it and that I was the only one there. The best part of social nudity is just that… social. I have yet to meet another person or couple nude in a hot tub that I didn’t enjoy talking with and sharing stories. While I was there for me, I would have enjoyed talking to other people too.
Sound like something you might want to try? I’m sure you have questions.
First off, there is nothing more wonderful than getting naked with your significant other on a beach, pool or in this case, hot springs. While you’ll be anxious at first, most people quickly realize that it really feels great. You’ll feel “exposed” and uncomfortable for a few minutes. Once the, “Are we crazy, what are we doing feeling wears off,” you’ll feel very comfortable and actually will get a rush from it. Sound cliche I know, but you’ll feel free, open and once the anxiety wears off, really good. And yes, because every guy asks about this, it isn’t uncommon to get an erection the first time you watch your significant other get naked. It will pass. Simply put a towel over your penis till it calms down or jump in the water and relaxi. This too shall pass. We recommend either going early or late to avoid other people. Just be prepared with a flashlight, etc.
Second, while I’m sure most couples who have never tried social nudity would want to be by themselves to start, if another couple or group of people are there already and naked, don’t worry about it. Just take your time and do what feels right. From our experiences most guys are all for getting naked and skinny dipping. It might take a little time for your wife/girlfriend to get comfortable. Step into the pool and relax. Once she feels comfortable (and she probably will but on her time frame) let her decide if she wants to take off her bikini top or drop her bathing suit completely. Be encouraging but not demanding. Let it be a shared experience and I promise you, it will be relaxing and fun for both of you.
So what do you do if there are other people there and they aren’t naked? Well, the decision is yours. Nudity is legal on U.S. Park Service lands so you are breaking no laws. Do what you’re comfortable with. We’ve been doing this for years and I have no problem taking my clothing off in a place where it is legal and recognized as clothing optional. That said, if someone was there with children, I would ask how much longer they were going to be there to see if we could wait them out or tell them that we intend on using the hot springs naked and discussing where we want to be and where they are. Again, the choice is yours. You’re in control.
I can tell you from what we’ve seen if there are other couples there with their bathing suits on, usually the other couples are waiting for someone to break the “nude” ice. This is what I mean. Read this Yelp Review of the San Antonio Hot Springs from Anthony J, “The three pools are out in the open on a hill side. If you are lucky like we were we saw some nudist in the springs. They were quick to get out and put on bathing suits when they saw us, but when we got to the pools they were very nice. We all had some really good conversation. After an hour of talking we all decided to go skinny dipping. The women were mid 30s and my friends and I were early 20s. That was the first time I’ve ever gone skinny dipping, and it was very enjoyable.” This happens a lot. Nudity is a big deal until you experience it and find it’s not a big deal at all.
We had something similar happen the first time we went to a very small, clothing optional beach in St. Maartin. There were four other younger 20/30 something aged couples, all in their bathing suits and bikinis on the beach when we arrived. As soon as we laid out our towels, I dropped my bathing suit and went skinny dipping in the ocean. By the time I got back to my wife, she had already taken her bikini top off and five minutes later put her bikini bottoms in her bag for safe keeping. By the time I had gotten out of the ocean for my swim, half the guys had already taken off their bathing suits and one woman her top. Within 30 minutes of my wife taking off her bikini and the two of us jumping in the ocean, all four couples were naked. By the time we left the beach, the four other couples were playing in the waves and walking down the beach in the buff like they had done it all their lives. The beach actually became pretty crowded and everyone was naked. This is a long example, but I’m surprised at how often all it takes is just one couple to get naked and everyone joins in.
Finally, and this is really important, so wouldn’t this hot spring be a wonderful place for romance, especially since you’re both naked already?
Nudity does not equal sex. All nudist will tell you one of the first surprises of social nudity is that while it can be romantic for you and your spouse, it isn’t a sexually charged environment. There is a time and place for everything and intimate touching and sex should be done in private, NOT in the open. If you’re lucky enough to have your own private pool or hot tub, go at it. But if you’re in a public place (beach, resort or in this case hot spring), it is a big no-no! Don’t ruin it for others (including families) that may surprise you by jumping in the hot spring while the two of you are getting hot. Sorry, it’s not acceptable.
So are you interested in trying a hot spring for you and your significant other? There are clothing optional hot springs in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon to name a few locations. There are a lot of reviews and locations. Some have been commercialized and you can rent your own private pool to be naked in or simply away from others. For the San Antonio Hot Springs, the address is: Forest Rd 376 (4 Miles N of FR 126) Jemez Springs, NM 87025. There is no cell phone service in this area.
More importantly, since I’m new to hot springs, if you have been to one and would recommend it as a great first time place for others to try social nudity, please send us a review and your thoughts on why it was a great first time experience for you both.
As anyone who has read our blog before knows, my wife and I are big supporters of enjoying nude vacations and getaways. For more than 20 years, we’ve found our clothing optional trips and adventures to be wonderful shared experiences for the two of us. To a couple who has never tried it before, it’s not what you would initially expect. It should be fun, exciting, freeing and relaxing. It is romantic too, but not sexual.
We started our blog nearly three years ago to encourage, answer questions and provide honest information and support to other couples who are interested in taking a nakation or trading their bathing suits for their birthday suits on an upcoming trip. We’ve found our trips to be very relaxing, romantic and freeing. It really has been a wonderful experience for us and potentially for you too.
Everyday our blog receives visits from 300-500 people interested in learning more. We invite and encourage you to ask questions. There are wonderful beaches to visit, clothing optional resorts to enjoy and completely nude vacations to discover. Please read our blog and let us know your questions and more importantly, share where you would recommend other couples go and what it was like for you.
My wife and I have been to nude beaches and resorts all over the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Somehow we missed Jamaica… until now. In late December we finally traveled to the Reggae Capital of the World and picked up a Red Stripe and pulled down our swimsuits. We relaxed in the hot sun and swam in the warm ocean. We believe Couples Sans Souci Resort is a perfect place to get naked with your spouse and if you haven’t done it before, it is a great place to try nude recreation for the first time.
I’m not sure why we hadn’t been to Jamaica until now. It’s not that we didn’t discuss it. Firefly Beach Cottages has been on our list for some time, although it has new ownership and I’m not sure if it’s still clothing optional. I’ve read and heard a lot about Hedonism II, but that’s not our idea of fun. Couples Resorts and specifically the Sans Souci property caught our attention after I began reading in several travel forums that many couples had their first social nudity experience here. My wife and I are not nudist newbies, but our blog is all about encouraging couples who want to try nude recreation so we decided to give it a try.
While this blog isn’t about the total Couples Sans Souci resort experience (go to TripAdvisor if you want to learn more), we will tell you why we thought the Sans Souci resort complements its Au Natural Beach and Pool experience nicely.
The resort was carved into the cliffs overlooking the ocean. It is older (more than 50+ years) and has been maintained beautifully. The landscaping, architecture and layout are very romantic. The restaurants, bars and pools all offer an excellent experience and variety. The rooms in the A and B buildings were renovated in 2015 and are very nice. You’re steps from the main beach and restaurants. If we did it again, we would request one of the rooms on the hillside because they are more private, have large balconies and have amazing ocean views. You can also sit and relax in the nude on your balcony without disturbing anyone or attracting any attention. This isn’t possible in the A or B buildings.
Couples Sans Souci is only for adults and attracts a lot of couples on their honeymoon, anniversary or just much needed time away. Did I mention it is very romantic? It really is and we would have had a great time here even if it didn’t have a nude beach and pool. But it does, which is why we went there.
Before I share our impressions and thoughts, I first want to mention why spending time together as a couple on a nude vacation can be such a rewarding and shared experience. If you’ve read our blog before, you know this but I believe it’s necessary to reinforce these points.
Think about how much time you and your spouse, significant other, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. actually spend together. Now consider how much time you’re together naked. I’m not talking about sexual intimacy either. That’s a different experience which can become more intimate by spending time together nude but is not what happens at a nude beach or pool. There is a time and a place and sexual intimacy or touching is not appropriate outside of your bedroom at Couples Sans Souci.
I’m talking about the time for the two of you to relax and reconnect. It’s about looking at each other and seeing the person you’re in love with as the sun shines down on both of you. It’s a feeling of personal freedom and shared romance because you’re together and totally exposed. You feel a little naughty because you’re outside with other nude couples around you. But you feel warm, relaxed and at peace. To me, my wife is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. As beautiful as she is with her clothes on, she is even more stunning when she is completely naked relaxing in a beach chair, sunbathing, swimming in the pool or walking on the beach with me holding hands. We always have a wonderful experience together on our nude vacations, which is why we share with other interested couples so they know what to expect and what the experience is really like and what it isn’t.
So why do we believe Couples Sans Souci’s Au Natural beach and pool are the perfect place to try the nude experience for the first time? It’s like everything else in Jamaica, it’s laid back, it’s relaxed and it’s, “No problem, man.”
The Au Natural beach and pool is probably about 100 yards in length. There are chairs throughout the beach where you can have your own space to relax with your spouse in the sun or shade. Or if you’re more social, the pool area is fantastic with a hot tub, swim up bar, and restaurant to enjoy. Overall, the nude experience here compares very well with other places we’ve been to and it is a first class setting that is well maintained. It is a safe environment and is perfect for relaxing in the sun, talking with other couples, playing nude volleyball in the pool or just falling asleep in the sun.
So why would we recommend it to couples considering it for their first nude experience? The first time for anything often produces anxiety and fear. Taking off all of your clothing so that your spouse and everyone around you can see you can be a humbling and scary experience the first time you do it. However, the reward is the most relaxing and yet exhilarating feeling ever. Think of what you felt the first time you kissed someone. You’re happy and excited and yet still feel like you’re about to throw up. That’s what I’m talking about. 🙂
Here are the reasons we believe it is perfect for first time couples: you have lots of space and can relax and explore at your own pace. This is what I mean and our tips to making this a wonderful experience for both of you:
Get there early. The beach and pool officially open at 9. Get there at 8 or 8:30 and take your place on the beach where you’ll have space to set up and get comfortable. There might be a few other couples there but you’ll probably have much of it to yourself. It’s a much less stressful experience when the beach and pool aren’t filled with people. That will happen later in the day, but you’ll be ready for it.
Take it off.Take it all off. Don’t delay. Don’t debate. Just take off your swimsuit, lay out your towel, put on your suntan lotion (put it on now while you’re thinking about it; you do NOT want to burn) and get comfortable. It will feel odd at first. That’s fine.
Enjoy the moment. You can only have one first time and this is it. You’ll feel a little crazy, but once you realize that no one is staring at you and that the world didn’t end, you’ll realize how good it feels to be warm all over and how wonderful it is to have your spouse at your side. It’s an incredible shared experience. Within 10 to 15 minutes, you’ll find that you’re starting to feel very comfortable and relaxed.
Take your time. Yes, you’re now naked and showing your body. You’re getting comfortable. As time passes, more couples will come to the beach and pool. You’ll see them find their spots on the beach and you’ll hear them by the pool. You’ll see them take off their suits. You’ll see that everyone is wonderfully average and no one really stand out. It’s funny. Clothing and bathing suits make us stand out from the crowd. Take them off, and we all pretty much look the same. Here’s what I mean.
You’ll notice we come in all shapes and sizes. Some couples have tattoos; some couples have completely shaved their pubic areas while some are completely natural; some couples are pierced; some couples are old and others are younger; some couples are skinny while others are larger; some couples have surgery scars; and some women have fake breasts. You’ll see it all and it’s all okay. Also, don’t feel that you need to fit in. You don’t need to shave your pubic hair and don’t worry if you’re larger or have smaller breasts or a small penis or dramatic surgery scars or birth marks. It really is a body shaming free zone where no one stand out and every one is accepting.
Explore and enjoy your time together. An amazing transformation takes place during your first time nude together. Your nakedness doesn’t matter. You’ll decide to get up and walk the beach together. Maybe jump into the ocean or venture over to the pool. Maybe it’s a quick trip down the beach at first where you pass another couple and exchange, “hello’s.” You realize although your naked and their naked too, nothing feels odd. It’s strangely natural and feels right. (Never thought you’d say that did you, especially before you tried it?)
Do what feels right. You’re having fun. In fact, you’re having a blast! Maybe you’ll decide to move to the pool and start talking with other couples. Maybe you’ll jump into a game of nude volleyball. Maybe you’ll go skinny dipping in the ocean. Maybe you’ll jump into the hot tub. Maybe you’ll go to the bar and try a mixed drink. You’ll be doing a lot of firsts today. Enjoy them. Or maybe you’ll spend your time together on the beach enjoying your time and never really mingle with the others. The choice is yours. It’s all okay and it’s up to you.
The biggest concern many couples shared about Couple Sans Souci’s nude area is that it isn’t clothing optional. It is nude. When you go to this area of the resort you must be with your spouse and you must take off all of your clothing. No topless. No gradually shed your suit. No exceptions. I know this can be very intimidating at first, but what you’ll find is that when everyone is nude, no one stands out. Honestly the only time I’m uncomfortable on a nude beach is when I’m around other people who are clothed. I’m exposed and they’re not. You’ll be surprised how quickly it feels natural to be without your clothing and around others who look the same. There is no judging. No staring.
Our other suggestion is not to wait till your last day to try the Au Natural beach. Countless couples mentioned they waited till their final day and then found they really enjoyed it and wished they tried it sooner. You’ll know within a few hours if you want to stay all day or go back to the other pools and beaches at San Souci. You’ll have a great time there too.
So there it is. We highly recommend Couples Resort Sans Souci as a wonderful nude experience for the couple trying it for the first time or for the experience nakationer who is looking to try a new resort.
What questions do you have? Been to Couples Sans Souci? What was your experience like? What other Jamaican resorts with nude areas would you recommend? We’d love to hear your thoughts, insights and questions. We can’t wait to go Jammin Naked in Jamaica!
When my wife and I started this blog nearly two years ago, our goal was to share information and advice with other couples who hadn’t tried but wanted to experience a shared naked experience. We’ve found it to be a wonderful getaway for the two of us away from our jobs, kids and other commitments. Our only mistake was not trying it sooner.
As most bloggers will tell you, often you wonder if anyone really reads what you write. I know we have a very popular blog with more than 350 views per day, but only once in a great while do we receive an email like the one below.
Mr. C had read our blog and asked some questions on a trip he and his wife were discussing. They had never gone anywhere were they could be nude and were excited and nervous at the idea of it. We traded emails and I recommended how to prepare both of them for the experience. What to expect, etc. I didn’t hear anything else until a few weeks ago. I asked Mr. C if I could share his account of he and his wife’s first nude vacation experience. His feelings, thoughts and experience are very common. I really appreciate him sharing. Read on.
“Well we did it! We just returned from our vacation in the Caribbean where we dared to do the unthinkable. After some debate months ago we decided to book a couple of days of our vacation at an adults only resort that had a nude beach. Both my wife and I were a little nervous about what was to come but figured we’d see what came of it.
In the weeks leading up to the trip we discussed a game plan of exactly what and how we would do this. We were scheduled to arrive mid afternoon while their was plenty of daylight and beach time still available. We decided that perhaps we should help things along with some liquid courage considering how outside our comfort zone this was.
Upon arrival at the Hedonism II Resort, we were supplied with a cocktail while we were checked in and shown to our room. These went down surprising quickly. Once we were in our room, my wife asked if I would go to the bar and get us another round. Knowing how nervous she was I immediately headed off to the bar. The bar was located adjacent to one of the large pools available on the resort, which at this particular time had a lot of people partying and enjoying themselves. As I approach the bar area I noticed more and more nude people coming into my view and the reality of where we were hit me. Having never been in this type of environment before I was uncertain what the atmosphere would be like. It seemed pretty free and I could not help but notice that these people didn’t seem to be the least bit self conscience about being nude in front of strangers.
We read up on the possibility of what are commonly referred to as public displays of affection (PDAs) happening in open areas at these types of resorts. As I was waiting at the bar I looked over across the pool area to where two men were sitting on the edge of the pool nude with their legs dangling in the water. In front of them fully submersed in the water, were what I assume to be their wives. The strangest part was the two men continued to chat while their wives pleasured them simultaneously. I decided to act as casual as I could and head back to the room realizing that I wasn’t in Kansas anymore. Upon arrival back to the room I told my wife what I had seen just moments before just to make sure she knew what was coming and to lessen the possible shock factor that she may encounter.
(NOTE: From everything I’ve read, public sexual activity at Hedonism isn’t uncommon. Most nudist resorts and beaches do not allow any physical touching. For example, Hidden Beach Resort in Mexico makes everyone sign a statement saying they won’t engage in any public sexual activity. As I’ve mentioned many times before, there is a time and place for everything and that while it’s great to enjoy time with your spouse nude, sexual intimacy should be done in private. What Mr. & Mrs. C saw at Hedonism is not the norm at most clothing optional properties unless they advertise otherwise.)
Our plan was to walk straight down to the nude beach and where the sign says “no clothing allowed beyond this point” and drop our laundry and get it over with. With that in mind I was wondering if we had the intestinal fortitude to follow through. Amazingly without hesitation we both followed through, I took my shorts off and my wife took her dress off (she wasn’t wearing anything under it) and we continued to walk straight down the beach to the bar and ordered another cocktail.
It was exhilarating and frightening all at the same time but it seemed that the longer we walked with nothing but a smile on the more comfortable we both became. After about an hour it seemed like it was something we had been doing for years.
The next day we were up very early and made our way to the dining area had a quick breakfast and it was off to the nude beach again. This time without even a second thought we both disrobed and once again found ourselves naked in front of a beach full of people. Our day was spent swimming in the caribbean sea and sunbathing on the beach. We both became very comfortable more because of the other people that were there than anything else. Nobody was gawking, nobody was critical of our body image, in fact nobody seemed to care if we were naked or not. My wife suggested we make a quick trip to our room to grab a few things we had forgotten to bring down with us. As my wife stood up and headed in the direction of our room, much to my amazement, she did not put her dress back on. I figured I’d play along and thought perhaps she would throw it on when we reached the edge of the beach, that didn’t happen. The entire walk to our room was done completely nude and so to was the return trip to the beach. We walked among clothed people in both directions, strangely enough it didn’t seem to bother either one of us.
The next morning before we were due to check out my wife suggested we get down to the nude beach for a last little bit. When we got to the beach it was a beautiful morning and not a person in sight. My wife immediately told me to pull out the camera and start shooting. The result was some of the best shots I have ever taken of my sexy wife.
In the end we have both decided we would like to do this again and are making plans to return.
Thank again for your advice.”
Except for the PDA around the pool, Mr. & Mrs. C’s first time experience at a nude beach is very common. You’re nervous and uptight. You feel like you’re breaking all the rules, but once you calm down and realize that it’s okay, that no one cares and that it is valuable time between you and your spouse, it becomes so natural. You’re no longer Naked and Afraid, but rather Comfortable and Happy.
If you have a first time experience, we’d love to read it and possibly share it too. Also please ask any questions you have about trying nude recreation.
We finally decided to leave the kids, snow and freezing temperatures of the U.S. Midwest to strip down to our bare bottoms to enjoy the sun and surf. After checking out several of the properties I mentioned in an our earlier wish list, I found out we’re a bit late. The properties we wanted to visit in Key West, Tulum and Jamaica were booked already for March.
I was really disappointed when I realized that Club Orient on St. Martin was booked too and then I realized I was missing the big picture. Yes, it’s great to go to a nude resort where you only have to pack carry on luggage because you really don’t wear much (anything) during the week. However, St. Martin is perfect for the couple looking to explore a nude vacation without any pressure. All of St. Martin’s beaches are topless and many have clothing optional sections too. It’s a win-win for the couple who isn’t ready to book a week at Hidden Beach Resort in Mexico or Caliente Caribe Resort in the Dominican Republic.
I’m a big believer that planning is one of the best parts of a trip. We went to St. Martin nearly 15 years ago and things have changed a lot since then. For one, the Internet making travel planning so much easier. We can research hotels, prices and options quickly and easily. Here are several nude/clothing optional B&Bs and resorts on St. Martin we would have liked to have tried. Unfortunately, our travel schedule and their availability didn’t match:
Club Fantastico — This is a new option on St. Martin and from what I can tell, it looks wonderful. Many of the same features as Club Orient, except not on the beach. We would love to check this property out one day. If you’ve been there, tell us what you think.
Naturist’s Getaway, Oyster Pond, French St. Martin – I loved this place from the moment I read about it. Why? Location, location, location. I can’t image a better experience than four studio apartments around a pool. Beautiful landscaping and privacy and only 10 minutes drive from Orient Bay too. I traded several emails with the owners. Lovely people. Unfortunately they were booked when we wanted to travel. Next time…
We decided to stay at a hotel on Orient Beach so that we can walk to the nude section (by Club Orient) and enjoy the benefits of our room being very close for lunch, shower or a nap. Our plan is to be centered at Orient Beach but to make day trips to other favorites. Which beaches you ask? Here are some beach we hit before that we will absolutely go to again:
Cupecoy Beach – I LOVE THIS BEACH. It has beautiful rock formations all over the beach and offers privacy and a chance to explore caves. The water can be a bit rough here, but it’s perfect for body surfing. It also has the best BBQ on the island. Visiting Cupecoy Beach is a most.
Happy Bay – I love the idea of finding my own little beach to discover and Happy Bay is it. It doesn’t have any place to get food or drink, so you’ll want to bring a lunch but imagine a romantic beach with few others nearby. It’s technically not a nude beach, but is often used by couples to lay out nude or skinny dip. Just be aware that you may need to put on clothes if families are nearby.
Orient Beach – Yes, you’ve heard about it already but in addition to being a perfect nude beach, Orient has the best people watching of any beach you’ll ever see. And this leads to one of my favorite activities: Watching the cruisers (couples visiting St. Martin for the day from a cruise ship) walk onto Orient Beach and then decide, should we or shouldn’t we strip down and enjoy the beach naked? Not surprisingly, Orient Beach is often the first place many couples try a nude beach experience. My wife and I like to take bets on who will take their bathing suite off first, him or her. Add beach chairs, umbrellas, lots of food options, beverages and hotels and you have the perfect, first time nude beach experience.
Maho Bay – Alright this is not a nude beach and to be honest, you’d have to be pretty daring to try it here. So why did this beach make my list? This is the beach you see from the plane when you land. It’s an awesome experience watching a 747 land just barely over your head. The Sunset Beach Bar is the perfect place to watch too.
As you can see, we have a lot of places we want to visit on St. Martin. We’re looking forward to going there in a few weeks. Been there before? Interested in going? Let us know your thoughts.
It’s been another beautiful weekend here in the Midwest. Bright sunshine and stunning fall colors. While the sights outside are amazing, my thoughts are already turning to January when it will be cold and miserable outside. I have no problems with snow, but I do like to escape the cold and find the sunshine to feel warm again.
So last night I started doing searches for nude and clothing optional resorts, beaches and locations I’d love to visit in a few months when the temperatures here hit the 20s and snow is the forecast for the week. This is my list of places my wife and I would like to visit when we’re ready to escape the frozen North.
Note that there are so many wonderful places to go now with many resorts catering to the nude or clothing optional lifestyle. My wife and I aren’t everyday nudists. We have found that taking a trip to a resort or beach sans clothing is our idea of the perfect vacation. If you have been to any of these resorts or locations, please join the conversation and share your thoughts with us. I would love to hear more about what you liked, didn’t or what you would add to the list. So, here is My Naked Travel List for the Winter 2015 (in no specific order):
Mak Nuk Village Clothing Optional Resort Tulum (Mexico) – This one has been on our list for some time. As we’ve mentioned before, my wife and I are big fans of Hidden Beach Resort. It is a truly first class experience that unfortunately comes with a first class price tag too. It’s very expensive. It also has an awful beach. Perfect for wading but that’s about it. Which is why I so want to visit Mak Nuk Village. No it doesn’t have a beach but they will take you to the nude beaches of Tulum, which are wonderful. They also offer great accommodations, pool, lazy river, hot tub and on-site dining. The pictures look great. Need I say more? Mak Nuk is not all inclusive but you pay for your beverages and dinners when you depart so no need to keep money on your naked body. I’m honestly ready to go now. Check out their website and let me know what you think.
Villa Dolce Vita (also in Tulum, Mexico)– Years ago my wife and I stayed at a small beach front property in Tulum. We had miles of white sand beaches to ourselves and played, swam and slept naked in the sun all day long. It was wonderful and I believe Villa Dolce Vita could be our new favorite getaway. It’s small, personal, romantic, clothing optional and right on the beach. After looking at these pictures, I can almost feel the sun on my back. Secluded and romanic. This is why you go to a B&B like this one. It has two guest rooms. This could be a perfect setting for first timers who want to bare as much as they dare without an audience. Not an all inclusive but looks like the perfect setting for a nude vacation. Have you been there before?
Firefly Beach Cottages (Negril, Jamaica) – We’ve never gone to Jamaica but I’ve been checking out this place online for years. It’s on Negril’s famous seven-mile beach but it is away from the crowds. It’s everything you’re looking for in an island vacation. Relaxed, slow and romantic. It offers personalized services and accommodations. I like that it’s small which could be perfect for the first time, naked vacationing couple but central to the beach and other restaurants. Looks like our kind of place. The reviews look great too.
Club Orient (St. Martin) – This was the first nude resort in the Caribbean and many would still say the best. We visited St. Martin’s Orient Beach nearly 15 years ago and loved it. Not sure which was more fun; laying out and soaking up the sun in the buff or watching all of the Cruisers (people visiting from cruise ships) go through the shock and awe of walking the beach with naked people and then relaxing and taking off their swimsuits and enjoying the beach with the rest of us. Truth be told, every beach on St. Martin is topless and most are clothing optional too. I would have a great time visiting a different beach every day and enjoying the terrific French restaurants each night, but there is something to be said for never having to put on clothing from the moment you wake up till you go to bed at night. Club Orient has a restaurant, nice accommodations and a perfect location (although I’d still recommend getting a car). It is very popular with Europeans and families. We would love to finally say that we’ve stayed at Club O.
Caliente Resort Caribe, Dominican Republic – I love the look of this all inclusive. Caliente has a sister property in Tampa Bay that my wife and I would have seen in March if the weather had been more cooperative. The pictures of this resort make it look like paradise and a party too. This resort is only adults and offers relaxation and romance with fun too. The setting couldn’t be nicer too with beaches, hot tub, pool, etc. This place looks like it is more of a party than some of the others on my list, but when the winter winds blow, I’m ready to get out and boogie.
Pilot House Guest House, Key West – My wife and I have always loved visiting Key West. It was in fact the first place I ever saw a woman topless on a beach, but that was when I was still in elementary school on a Spring Break trip with my parents. We have been going to Key West for visits over the years and have fallen in love with the restaurants, sunset celebrations, people and the guest houses we’ve stayed at. Ironically, I only recently realized that there were clothing optional guest houses in Key West. Any of these guest houses look great, but I found many great reviews about the Pilot House Guest House. They offer a virtual tour of the pool and rooms. Location in old town Key West couldn’t be better.
Desert Sun Resort, Palm Springs – Our very first nude vacation was as the Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs. It was a wonderful first time for us with great people in a great setting. I would go back to the Terra Cotta Inn too except this blog is about places I haven’t been to but would like to visit soon.
What happens when you put a nude resort in the middle of downtown Palm Springs? You have the only nude resort with a bridge to cross from one side of the resort over a city street to the other side of the resort. The Desert Sun Resort is all about comfort and relaxation. It’s not small from what I’ve heard but not too big either. With a great nude pool and social experience and with the great restaurants of Palm Springs nearby, how can you go wrong? We’d love to check it out too. Sorry, no pictures. All pictures were copyrighted on the website and not for download.
So that’s my Naked Travel List for Winter 2015. I hope we get to one of these properties this winter. There is nothing better than a relaxing nude vacation with your spouse, especially when it’s cold and snowy at home. Have you been to any of these properties? Please share your thoughts.
Also all picture in this blog were used from each property’s website. No money was given or asked for to be included in this blog post. The list and thoughts are my own.
Does the thought of waking up on vacation and never putting on a swim suit, bikini, shorts, shirt excite you? Or how about relaxing nude with your spouse in the sun and surf, while being pampered with great food and drinks poolside? If you are thinking this is your perfect vacation, you’re ready for a trip to an all inclusive, nude resort. We recommend you consider a trip to the Hidden Beach Resort in Mexico.
Maybe you and your spouse enjoy the nude beach experience or even visited your local nudist club or a B&B with a clothing optional pool like the Green House Inn in New Orleans, and now your considering a vacation in the buff. It can be a little intimidating at first: All week surrounded by people wearing little or no clothing. At first it might seem like too much. What we’ve found is when you combine a five-star resort experience with the freedom to be nude all day and surrounded by other fun couples of all ages in a very safe and relaxing environment, the result is heaven on earth.
So why a nude, all inclusive resort like Hidden Beach? I believe my wife said it best. “It’s fun to be naked.” It’s quality time with your spouse in a completely relaxing and tropical environment. Here is our average day at Hidden Beach:
We wake up (nude).
We walk the beach before breakfast (nude).
We go to breakfast (my wife wears a wrap and is usually topless while I’m nude).
We grab towels and find the perfect chairs on the beach (nude).
We sit, talk, read, sleep while enjoying the sun and the surf (nude).
When it gets too warm, we jump into the pool or wade in the ocean (nude).
When the bar opens, we grab drinks and bring them back to our chairs (nude).
We get lunch by the pool (nude).
We lay in rafts in the pool (nude).
We talk with other guests about what we’re doing tonight (nude, us and them).
We jump into the hot tub in the late afternoon and talk with other couples about where they’re from and what they’re doing tonight (nude).
Finally we go to our room and shower and put on casual clothes to go to dinner at one of five restaurants at the El Dorado Seaside Suites Resort, a sister property of Hidden Beach Resort right next door. It’s usually around 7 and it’s the first time we’ve worn clothing all day. We enjoy a great dinner. Relax at one of the El Dorado’s bars and enjoy talking with other couples.
And then around 11 or so we head back to HBR, go to our room and shed all of our clothing and walk to the hot tub and relax under the night sky (nude again).
Next we either go to our room to enjoy some intimate moments or grab a bunch of towels and fall asleep in each other’s arms in a beach palapa listening to the waves and the wind (nude).
Why do we like Hidden Beach Resort? To be fair, we have not gone to any other nude, all inclusive resorts. There are many others on our list that we hope to visit. Here is what we believe to be the best features of Hidden Beach Resort:
The resort is small and intimate but still provides lots of space to relax in private or to talk with other guests. There are only 42-rooms and each is very spacious. The beds are wonderfully comfortable. We highly recommend the swim up suites on the first floor. You can literally walk out your door and step right into the water. The second floor suites are very nice too and all come with jacuzzis for sharing romantic moments with your spouse.
Have you ever been to a bar, nude? Or been to dinner topless? What about dancing to a live band in the buff? All were first time experiences for us too at Hidden Beach and we had a lot of fun. Hidden Beach has a full service restaurant, pool bar and nightclub and all can be enjoyed nude.
Pool or beach? Why not both? Hidden Beach has a wonderful pool made for relaxing and talking. Volleyball games happen throughout the day. There is plenty of space to read, talk or nap. The beach has chairs and palapas to lie down on and get comfortable. We usually start our day on the beach and then move to the pool in the early afternoon and then relax on our patio next to the pool in the late afternoon. Can it get any better than this?
Hidden Beach Resort attracts a fun collection of people. Every time we go, we meet fun new people. To be honest, we’re usually one of the youngest couples there and we’re just into our 40s. Most couples there are 50+. We did meet a couple in their late 20s on our last visit, but I have never seen a couple that young there before. We’ve met couples from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, England and France including a gay couple who were two of the funnest guys we’ve ever talked with on vacation.
While not nude, the El Dorado resort has five restaurants (Italian, Mexican, Asian, Steak House, and World cuisine) to choose from for lunch and dinner. The food is outstanding with different menus every night. Oddly enough while Hidden Beach is wear as little as you want, the El Dorado restaurants have a formal dress code. This actually works out well because the trip pictures you show everyone of the two of you will be taken at the El Dorado. 🙂
Fun bars and nightlife. There is planned entertainment and nightlife at Hidden Beach. The Hidden Beach nightclub also has a big spa in it so you can jump in and relax too. The bars at the El Dorado are a lot of fun too. We’ve met a lot of fun couples and many on honeymoons. Our favorite question? “How come we see you here at the bar every night but we never see you at the beach or pool during the day?” It’s our little secret.
Fantastic service. We have stayed at Hidden Beach Resort four times and the majority of the servers and staff we saw on our first visit are still there. They are very warm and friendly and provide fantastic service. They really get to know the guests. For us, the service is really what makes Hidden Beach so special. We have never gone to the spa but have heard from others that it is an awesome experience.
Hidden Beach Resort is a very safe, private, relaxing experience, but realize it is a nude resort and not clothing optional. You must be nude here. There are resorts in Mexico that cater to the swinger lifestyle. Hidden Beach resort is not one of them. As I’ve mentioned before, we go to nude resorts because it is wonderful experience for us. We don’t want to be “hit on” by other couples. While I’m sure it could happen at any nude resort, this has never happened to us at Hidden Beach. There is a strict code of conduct at Hidden Beach that they ask you to sign when you arrive. If your spouse is a little anxious about being nude with other couples around, let them know it is a very peaceful and non-threatening place to be together.
So before you start packing (the last time we went my wife and I used only carry on luggage), what else do you need to know? Does it sound too good to be true? Like any place there are some downsides that you should know about before you book your stay.
Hidden Beach Resort is expensive. They offer specials throughout the year but be aware that you are getting a first class experience at first class prices. It’s worth it but this certainly isn’t a budget vacation. Rooms can be $300-$450 a night depending on time of year. There are often specials and I’m sure travel agents might be able to get you better rates. Remember, you’re paying for the room (which you really won’t spend a lot of time in), all your food and beverage and a wonderful place to swim, layout and and enjoy. It comes with a price.
The ocean by Hidden Beach Resort is all coral. This was a big letdown the first time we came because I wanted to go skinny dipping with my wife and swim in the ocean. While you can walk into the water, there is a lot of coral and it really doesn’t get deep. If you want an ocean skinny dipping experience, this isn’t it. That said, the beach has palm trees and palapas and is wonderful but you really can’t swim here at all. I do recommend getting bread and feeding the fish. The sea life is amazing here, you just can’t swim with the fish.
The Nightclub can be noisy. We really like the nightclub at Hidden Beach but you will hear the music in your room if you’re on that side of the resort. It’s not bad, but not quiet and peaceful like the rest of the resort. We try to stay as far away as possible.
There are only 42 rooms at Hidden Beach but when the resort is full, it does feel crowded. It is a small, intimate resort, but when it’s crowded it is sometimes tough to find your own spot.
Hidden Beach isn’t very close to Cancun. It’s about an hour and a half from Cancun International Airport. This may not sound like much but we highly recommend reserving a car to take you to and from the airport to the resort. It’s worth the money. If you take the free, van service it might take up to three hours to get to Hidden Beach. When you get to Mexico, you will want to get to the resort as soon as possible.
For us, Hidden Beach is a special getaway we take every other year to escape the midwest and to get time to refresh, relax and reconnect. My wife feels very comfortable and safe here. During our last visit, she was naked and ready to go to the beach before I had finished opening my suitcase.
We plan on visiting Hidden Beach Resort again soon. We’re due for another visit. We would also like to go to some of the clothing optional resorts in Jamaica too. If you have any questions or concerns about Hidden Beach, please let us know. At this point, I can safely say we are experts and highly recommend it but we know it might not be for everyone. We would also really like to visit Mak Nuk Village in Tulum. While not on the ocean, I’ve read some nice review about it.
Please note we were not paid by Hidden Beach Resort or any travel agent for this review. This review is from our experiences here over the past ten years. We highly recommend you read other travel reviews and check out their website to learn more.
